The Toronto Consort is Canada’s leading ensemble specializing in the music of the Middle Ages, Renaissance and early Baroque. Our Toronto series is one of the most successful chamber music series in Canada, presenting five programs each season in the beautiful rich acoustic of the newly renovated Jeanne Lamon Hall at Trinity St. Paul’s Centre.
In tandem with the work on our mainstage, our education programs in the community are central to our work. For the fifteenth year in a row, we will welcome 1400 students and their teachers to our free ‘sold-out’ student matinee concerts. Additionally, for the past three years, we’ve been offering a program free in-the-schools workshops led by Consort members.
We extend our reach from high school students to youth and university students through our ticket subsidy program Club Consort, offering young people affordable $10 concert tickets. These attractively priced tickets encourage the ‘under 30s’ to take a chance and try us out. And it works – we’re building a new audience for tomorrow.
Our financial picture is solid. Ticket sales revenue, private donations and government arts council support place are at the core of our operations. To find out more about our financial position, visit the CRA Charities Listings.
Over the years we have maintained our important commitment to offer affordable ticket prices to our performances and free student education programs. As a result, less than 30% of our operating costs are covered by ticket sales. Gratefully, we have been able to rely on the help and support of individuals in our community in order to deliver our programs.
