The Atkinson International Music Academy

The Fellowship and Residency Program

“Every dollar spent on the arts is a dollar spent on education and on our future.”

The Atkinson International Music (AIM) Academy is the only one of its kind in Canada, offering a rich ancient music‑centred curriculum focused on career development. Instructors of the program appear on the world’s great stages including the Metropolitan Opera, Teatro Colón, Wigmore Hall, Carnegie Hall, Salle Gaveau, Massey Hall, and at the Forbidden City in Beijing.

Our mission is to launch meaningful careers for young extraordinary artists at the beginning of their professional lives. The program includes private study with exceptional faculty and guest artists; performance opportunities; masterclasses for instrumentalists and singers; score and text preparation; lyric diction; acting classes; and career coaching.

Each Academy Fellow may participate in a funded international residency — providing performance opportunities and artistic training with the goal of strategically expanding their professional outlook and network.

The Toronto Consort is grateful to Ann Atkinson, key supporter of this innovative program, and to the newly appointed Director of the AIM Academy, Daniel Taylor, O.C. The Atkinson Fellowship is offered in voice and early instruments.
