
Ney player, composer and educator
Kianoush Khalilian is a Persian ney player, composer and educator. He began studying the instrument in Tehran with Hassan Nahid in 1990 and has since performed across Asia, Europe and North America.
His collaborations include Constantinople, the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal and the Canadian Arabic Orchestra. Based in Toronto, he founded the Canadian Asian Music Society to encourage cultural exchange through performance and education. Alongside his concert work, he teaches and has written an instructional book on the Persian ney.
